I am having a serious war with spyware removal. I have tried almost everything that I can click my mouse on,but cannot get rid of either. I have a trojan .win32.dialer.bi and alt.net. I have ran a series of spyware removal tools to no avail. Please e-mail me with a response ..same screename via AOL. The error messages that I receive state that the items cannot be removed as they are in use in my memory. Total newbie here,so speak slowly.lol. Thank you ! Any help at all is way better than what I am dealing with now! :)

Altnet is related to Kazaa. You should run:KazaaBegone

After that, please follow ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ ME FIRST BEFORE ASKING FOR SUPPORT: Basic Spyware, Trojan And Virus Removal
If you already have any of the programs linked in the tutorial please double check your version to make sure you have the latest one and that you have any/all updates for the programs.

NOTE: In order to resolve the issues you are having it is very important that you at least try to perform all the steps as outlined. If you have any difficulty please post back letting us know what steps you have completed, what you found while doing the scans if anything and details about any problems you have encountered in completing the steps. The more details you can provide the better.

After doing ALL of the above if you still have a problem:

Make sure you have HijackThis 1.99 and follow the guidelines on where to install it and how to post a log as an attachment. This is all covered in the sticky thread NO HIJACK THIS LOG FILES BEFORE READING THIS: HJT Tutorial & LOG File Posting

Now post a HijackThis as a .txt file attachment to your message. All running programs should be closed, including your web browser, e-mail. Close before running Hijack This!

To repeat: Do NOT run Hijack This from the Desktop, a temp folder, or a sub-folder of C:\Documents and Settings, or choose to run it directly from the downloaded ZIP file. Place it in its own folder, for example C:\Program Files\HJT

Well I followed every step stipulated on the links listed. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING worked. I ran all of the programs in safe mode as explained, they all found and extracted zilch. The online scans said that my pc was unpenatratable, virus free, adware free, firewalled ,and protected to the hilt. So as a last resort I posted on the microsoft forum, lo and behold it was my anti-virus program that had the virus, lol. I extracted it and things are working smoothly. Thanks for the help! Now how do I unload all the stuff I loaded yesterday? Alot of it seems to have dissapeared.??????

And which anti-virus program were you using? Sounds like it should be dumped. You do not need to uninstall what you loaded during the READ ME FIRST. The are all good and valuable programs to keep for the future.

I was using F-secure,a trial version that I downloaded from the Microsoft website when I started having slip-ups in Macafee.
