    Hi folks,
I have been infected...and I would appreciate some help. MalwareBytes found a Trojan Dropper and my McAfee has been finding a virus a day (for the last 4 -5 days or so). The only reason I think it's not gone is that it made Spybot into a read only file and everytime I try to reinstall the program it stops me. It also would not allow me to run MGTools.

Additionally, in the past few hours while at work it has disabled Hijack This and SAS...it just keeps getting better!

I've attached the logs I have and am hoping that some of the experts here can help my cause. I've had my Dell Studio Hybrid for less than a year and I really don't want to sacrifice it to the Malware Gods.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

You need to follow all of the instructions in the below sticky:

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

We need the logs from SUPERAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and MGtools. Make sure that you are following the instructions for Using MGtools with Vista. UAC must be disabled and you must reboot after disabling. Also, you must run MGtools as Administrator.

The logs you attached thus far show no problems other than the fact that you did not put ComboFix on your Desktop as is required for further instructions to work.

    Good morning,
Thanks for the response. I attempted to take those steps but the virus has disabled my ability to access any of those programs. Any suggestions for a workaround?

I was given a HIRENS boot disk from a coworker to run MalwareBytes off of, but it will not even run that.

    Thanks again!

Do you have User Account Control disabled? You need to have it disabled and keep it that way until we are finished. I also suggest that you disable McAfee before trying to run any scans since McAfee will frequently get in the way of malware cleanup.

The only logs you have attached thus far do not indicate any malware problems.

Let's see if we can get some info so that we can determine which system file has been corrupted. That way we can try to replace it.

Download and save the below to your PC (save it anywhere you can find it. The Desktop is fine). Then doube click on it to run it.

    AVPFind.bat

It should take a couple minutes to run. You will see a black command prompt window while it is running and it should close when it is finished. Once it finishes, attach the c:\avplog.txt file that is will hopefully create as long as the malware does not block the batch file from running.

    Now download and Run exeHelper
    • Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
    • Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
    • A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
    • Post the contents of log.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

Also please try running the below online scan:

    http://www.superantispyware.com/onlinescan.html

Reboot immediately after scanning if it finds and removes anything. Let me know if anything was found. See if you can save a log with it.

Then try running these instructions: Using MGtools

Attach the below logs when finished with all of the above:
    • C:\avplog.txt - from AVPfind
    • a log from online SAS scan if you could make one
    • log.txt - from exeHelper
    • C:\MGlogs.zip - from MGtools
The C:\ assumes that drive C is you Windows boot drive. If you boot from another drive, then use the correct drive letter above.
