Good Day Geeks. I'm running Win XP and using AVG antivirus. AVG detected the "Downloader.Crypter.E" virus on my PC, however it is unable to move all files to the vault or off the system. Would you all have some advice in this area?
    As always, very much appreciated.

I have disabled system restore...to no avail. One file can't be removed. Thx A.S.

    Good call Abby :)

plus I cannot find a listing for that Trojan on 5 databases...... is that the exact message? plus I would just to be safe once System Restore (SR) is turned off and PC rebooted I would run http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ then if OK turn SR back on.

    The virus/torojan shows as Downloader.crypter.E
The "Unremovable" file is VidCntl.exe The path would be C:\windows\system32\VidCntl.exe

I will try the site/cleaner noted above.

Ah ok now that file lists http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/syscenter.shtml

I would suspect as it proberbly locates itself in a run command in the regisrty the file wont delete as its already running.... to delete it check running processes for that file or start in Safe Mode and delete their.

I also could not find a listing for that virus, but I did find one for the file here:

You might try using DelLater to delete that file...

[Edit] ...after trying Halo's suggestion :D

Ahhhhh hell forgot about that app Alan

I would normally use East-Tec Eraser to remove stubborn files myself but its not a free app ( free to try tho ) so DelLater is just perfect for these situations.

OMG... evil post count mate :p
