trojan.small

    I ran ewido and it found trojan.small.
    I quarenteened it and then ran scan disk.
    I am now getting "error loading operating system"
    at boot up.

    You will need to provide more info than that ...what is the error message exactly ...what have you tried to work around it ...does safe mode work / last known good?
    What operating system?

    Thanks for the response Tim.
    I repaired the boot sector using my hard drive utility disk.
    I ran bootfix from the xp recovery console.

    XP now loads and I have started the backup process for all my critical data.
    Once I have backed up everything, I will run per your procedures and post the logs to rid my PC of this bug.
