Trojan??

I was changing some settings in ZoneAlarm and came across the following.

Product name: preinscrazytalk
File name: C:\Windows\System\presinsexe.exe
Date: 12/03/03
File size: 98.3K

I haven't a clue what this is. Symantec showed nothing, McAfee as well as Google came up empty. I do not recall this D/L. AdAware and AVG do not recognize this in the puter. Any ideas? I don't like having this kind of thing on my computer when I do not know it. TIA BocceMon

 

Do you see it on your processes or start up programs

I do not know how to check the processes I ran msconfig and looked in the start-up menu and there is nothing there. I recognize everything there. So... how do I check the processes??

ctrl alt delete at the same time

click on task manager

what Operating sytem do you have

 

My OS is

Win ME on a 5000 compaq, 512 Mb RAM. In another thread someone asked hoof arted? I think my brain did...sorry for not giving enuf info..

I have searched all over the place using different search engines and different websites, different forums and even a different language

I cannot find anything about this program.

This is what I would do

do a seach for that file sometimes the same file can be in a different folder
Try renaming the file someting else. but do not delete. lets say rename it

presinsexe.old

that should disable it.

if you notice that a program stops working properly because it needs the file then you know who uses it.

just rename it back to
presinsexe.exe

Ran a search for files/folders..came up with nothing. Ran my registry cleaner and it did not pop up there. But it is still in ZoneAlarm..confusing. Could this possibly be found using Windows Explorer?

If zone alarm has it then do the following

delete it from the zone alarm list

I also have zone alarm and for some reason when I have deleted a file that had access to the internet. zone alarm still keeps it in its list of programs.

delete it from the zone alarm list and if the program tries to access the internet then zone alarm will detect it again.

for now. if you could not find it. the program might not be on your system

wait and see if it reappears in zone alarm
