i ran anti_trojan5.5 and it found 12 open ports and a possible trojan called netspy 0.698 also sockets de troie blazer 5

it says they are possible trojans ! is it safe to remove them also why are there so many open ports and do they all need to be open

i also ran a program to check how secure the puter is and was told it is very secure i ran 3/4 diff programs same result :(

    hey,

hopefully someone will correct me if i'm wrong. open ports means that your computer is generally listening for connections at certain ports - for instance: if you're running a web server, your computer will generally be listening for connections on port 80; if you're running some sort of peer2peer software like bearshare, your computer will be listening for connections at some other port (i forget which one).

just because there is an open port, doesn't necessarily mean something malicious is going on.

Trojans, on the other hand, are malicious. I would think it would be safe to remove those trojans. but to be even safer, make a backup of the files and registry keys before removing them - hopefully your scanning program will have that option.

    hope that helps,
    o Draith
