I've tried several times to download Combofix.exe to my desktop. I'm running Win XP. When the file is 99% complete, I get the message: Cannot copy ComboFix[1]: Access denied.

What does that mean and what should I do? Thanks.

I just reread the instructions for downloaing Combofix and realized that my McAfee is probably interfering with the download. What do I do now?

    Hi.

Try running instead. See if that works. It might not be able to copy from the temp directory to your desktop for some reason.

Thanks for both of your responses. I figured it out myself. I disabled McAfee and then combofix loaded just fine. And, thanks to the very specific instructions given on READ AND RUN FIRST, my computer appears to be free to viruse, trojans, everything I can detect. I've set up Firefox as my browser (from IE) and am trying to activate Sun Java (apparently the applet isn't functioning). I'll try more when I have some time. But the computer's functional and I'm really grateful for the time and trouble you folks have gone through to make your experience and free software available to regular computer users like me.
