I have reinstalled my computer an the Dell Drivers and Utilities Disk that came with my computer will not work - the computer does not recognize itself as a Dell.

    Any suggestions?

Alternately: I have gone to Dell.com and to driverguide.com to download Dell Drivers. Unfortunately when I attempt to install a driver, I get a message during setup which reads "Error installing iKernel.exe: (0 X 10000)."

On Microsoft help, it lists 3 files which may cause this problem if they are missing. I am missing one of these files, stdole. However, when I followed the Microsoft instructions to expand it out of the installation CD, this did not work.

Absolutely any suggestions would be entertained. I just want to hear some sound at this point.

Also, if anyone has any idea why I'd be missing a necessary file like stdole when I've just completely reinstalled my system yesterday, please let me know.

    thanks.

I need to make a correction about this post.

I did receive the error message indicated.

However, I have all three of the necessary stdole*.tlb files.
