Hello, I was told to post this here because apparantley it sounds like my browser has been hijacked, hope someone can help me coz i'm really stuck.

I was getting a lot of popups and my internet explorer has stopped working properly, so i switched to using netscape and that was fine.(don't know if that bit was relevant). Anyway, I downloaded Ad-aware and ran a scan on my pc and it found loads and loads of files which i subsequently quarantined. but when i logged off my user account and shut down my PC, the next time i switched it on and tried to log on to my user account it started to log me in and then immediately logged me off again, taking me back to the user account selection screen. I can't get into any of the accounts to do anything about this (i'm currently using a PC in work). Anyone got any ideas on the cause or what I could do?

    any help muchly appreciated

    P.S. its windows XP

Do you get any error messages? What happens when you try to log in to any of the user accounts?
Do you have an Administrator account?
Can you boot in safe mode (try with and without network support)?

hi i am having the same problem.

hi. I currently have Windows XP home edition. I have 2 problems if someone can help.
The problem is that i can't logon into any of my accounts: ie when i try to log on as Administrator/User it says "Logging on" and right after loggs me off.
I have tried to enter using safe mode with the various options but it still will not let me log on. any solutions>?

Since i couldn't log on I was thinking about reformating my computer or reinstalling Windows. I have the windows xp hedition Cd(recovery cd) which came with the computer. I have read the thread on formatting the computer.
I have changed my bios to load from cd first but nothing happens. I have a windows startup disk but when i try to change drives ie: a:\ e: it does not change into that drive.
How would i be able to access the cd through dos? or access the cd at all?

    peaceman.
