    Hello MG Whiz-Techs,

I am having trouble making a VCD slideshow for my DVD player and TV set. I have Irfanview and NeroVision, which should suffice, but won't for the following reasons:
Irfanview lets me get so far that it almost happens....then I get an error message that Nero Burning ROM must be installed (it is), and that you have the Irfanview plug-in for Nero (which I do). It says the compilation won't burn on the media - fresh CD's of a good brand name.
NeroVision launches and I choose slideshow and VCD....but I get an error message about memory shortage, OXC0000005, and with 500 JPG's at about 1 MB each, I can sort of see why. The app closes down.
Is there a freeware app that does VCD or DVD slideshows (of 100's of JPGs) easily and without error messages ?? I have two 512MB RAM sticks in their, so it is a little under 1 GB of 'virtual memory', I think.....

Thanks for all the help so far in other matters.

Try using PhotoMeister. I haven't used it in a while, and never used it for VCD slideshows, but it says right in the description that it's capable of doing this. It's freeware, and can be downloaded from this link. The user guide can be downloaded from this link as an Adobe PDF file. They also have a forum, a FAQs list, and a troubleshooting guide available at this link. I hope this helps! Good luck!

You haven't said if you tried burning your project to DVD, so I wonder if the space limitations of CD-R are causing the problem. With DVD-Rs costing around $0.20, I'd certainly be tempted to try. I have had fewer problems with DVD+Rs, myself.

If you are using Windows XP, and you have a full Service Pack 3 (some corporate environments blocked this), you will find that Windows Movie Maker, one of the programs in the Accessories folder, will make a slideshow for you as well, from images or movie clips...or both.

Other thoughts: Increase the virtual memory your machine has available to it; perhaps play with the software buffer size (and make sure it is on) in the burning software.

    Hi,
Okay, downloaded and installed the PhotoMeister app. So far, seems good, but I am getting hung-up at one point, and the operation dies at that point. Maybe you can help....
After gathering and setting up all JPGs into an album, and getting everything ready to go...at the stage where you usually choose which drive to burn on....the blank window box is blank (it usually detects the built-in CD burner or my external DVD drive, E and F, respectively.
The error message or help file says "This drive cannot write CDs !" As I say, the field or drop-down menu should show my E and F drives....but isn't picking them up.

Do I need a specific CD burning driver file to activate the drive bay and tell the app where to burn my CD ??
What driver do I lack, and where can I get one that will work with this set-up ?

    - Thanks, & Happy New Year...
