My computer says I have" adobe flash player 12 Active X". Sometimes it works fine. 4 times out of 10, the photo comes up on the website, then the photo goes to black and says "You Need To Install Adobe Flash Player 12". I have run the link someone from this website sent me, and it says 'Congratulations, you already have Adobe Flash Player 12 on your computer'. After that, I still kept having times where it would put the sign up about needing Adobe Flash Player. I removed it from my computer and downloaded it again (the version12), it seemed like everything was ok after that, but in less than 24 hours it started all over again with the 'you need to install Adobe flash player'.I have the trouble mostly on sports websites, news websites, puzzle website. These are websites I have been using for years and this hasn't happened before. About to lose my mind:mad. Why does it keep telling me I need to install it, and other times, it's fine???? I have Windows 7 Home Premium and Internet Explorer Version 10. My computer is HP 2009m. The Adobe Flash Player 12 that I already have on my computer says Active X after Adobe Flash Player. Wondered what the difference is in that and just Adobe Flash Player. Not sure what Active X means. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IE uses Adobe Flash with an activex extension; other browsers have a plugin version because they do not use activex.
    IE version flash_player_12_active_x.exe
    other browsers flash_player_12_plugin.exe

I honestly don't know. I do not get a popup "You Need To Install Adobe Flash Player 12" on any sites I visit. We are using XP and Win 7 on 4 different computers.

When you get that message, check if
    • the Shockwave Flash object is enabled
    • ActiveX Filtering is disabled

Not trying to hijack thread, but I have similar problem. Mine says I need to install Flash player (or update). Only use Mozilla Firefox. When I try to download the update (12), it gets to 50% and stops and says I have a newer version installed. I have google chrome also but rarely use it......lately only for flash items since my firefox is fubared.
I tried to uninstall Google chrome and again download the update........it went to IE google chrome and not firefox.
I am tearing my hair out.

    Windows 7 home premium.
