trouble with antivir on my dads dell laptop

    i tried to remove antivir on my dads dell laptop so i can download 7 i thought i removed everything then tried to install 7 but it says it cant download it till i remove all of 6

    so i was wondering if i could redownload 6 and if that would fix the problem and then try to download 7 over it

    would that work
