When I click on chrome it goes to task bar but not to desktop for me to view. I've tried to restore to an earlier date but no help. In file explorer I have hidden files shown.I also used unhide.exe. I uninstalled chrome a couple times and installed and rebooted.I right clicked on chrome and properties and on the stortcut tab I changed from run to maximum.I downloaded Farbor Service scanner, used that.
Don't know what else to try.

What kind of security programs do you use? Google's updates drop temp files in unusual places. Maybe this could lead to problems with security software watching over the place where the drop occurs?

I've seen problems created by anti-executable types of security programs. Command lines can be blocked sort of like a script in your browser by your ad blocker.

It depends what version of AVG (free or premium) you are using and which of its many features you have enabled.

Thanks for your input Max. I have the free avg. that says updated but I haven't ok to that.
Amd one thing I found out is that it says 32 bit.I have w-10 and 64 bit. Could that have anything to do with my chrome not maxing? Atlbo I tried that with task manager and I'm going to look in the
process tab if I can find it and see what I can find.

If AVG do a 64bit free version then yes best to swap to that.

If it was my system (I use Win 10 64 bit with a 32bit Chrome with no issues at all) I would do a total, clean uninstall of Chrome. That means using a decent uninstaller such as Revo FREE version or Geek Uninstaller or Iobit or Ashampoo
In any of the above use their 'advanced' or 'powerscan' options to find all remnants.
    Then restart your system.
Now run CCleaner Slim > cleaner & >Registry > Scan for all issues > Fix all issues
Now before attempting to reinstall Chrome, run sfc /scannow from and ADMINISTRATOR Command Prompt (right click windows start button and choose 'Command Prompt (Admin)'
Wait for it to fully finish.
See here for how to see a text file of the scan, before you close the command window:

    Restart your system.
Now try to install Chrome again but with AVG, any Firewall and any other 'real time' security software totally disabled.
