trouble with gateway drivers

Alright I have a gateway 510xl desktop PC running Windows xp Pro.

For one, i have the ethernet driver (PRO/100 ve) installed but i cant seem to connect to the internet. It always gives me the error "could not renew IP address"

Also, when I go to the gateway website and download the drivers that I need, its just a zip file. There doesnt seem to be a way of actually installing the drivers.

what do I need to do? or am i just being a retard?

The gateway site with the zip files was for the 510 desktop, not the 510XL. Here is the site for the 510XL.
