trouble with red x where pic shoud be...

I am unable to see pictures on my computer, in some forums I surf and in my e-mail accounts, att and gmail. I accessed an old thread titled (Pictures: red x) and did all that was suggested in there... to no avail.

I have a Dell E510 with windows xp media center.


Can ANYONE help me?

Maybe you could link us to the thread you followed, so we can easily see what you have already tried, and not suggest the same stuff.

 

I would if I could, but I don't know how to do that. I'm sure it's really very easy. BTW, I've checked out your blog and LOVED it. You had a youtube video about the pull between God and the enemy, that made me cry. The very next sunday my church put on the same play! Thank you.

If you go to the thread you were reading and copy the www address that is in the top bar of your browser and then just paste it in a post here it will automatically link to it for us to click on. To copy, simple highlight the www address by dragging your mouse across is while holding down the left mouse button. Once highlighted, right click on it and select copy. To paste in a post simply right click again and select paste.

Yes, however, I have bigger fish to fry at the moment!! I'm infected with several viruses. Avast has detected two, yet my system is still acting ill. One of the files Avast tagged was a pic I accessed online of a princess castle cake I wanted to copy. I really don't understand the whole virus thing. If someone wanted to access as many systems as possible, wouldn't it be more effective in something more high traffic like porn? But a princess castle cake photo? Come on!!

Could the viruses cause, in any way, the pic problem? Also, mom sent me a pic today in my bellsouth e-mail, which I had no problem accessing!! K, starting to feel overwhelmed. Thank you all for any and all help.:confused

 

OK..let's deal with the malware first as it may solve the red X issue. But at any rate you need to eliminate the malware before you change any other settings etc.

You will need to work through the link I have given below, step-by step, following all instructions. When you have completed this, start a new thread in the Malware Forum and post up the logs requested in the link. An Authorized Malware Fighter will then assist you and help clean up your PC.
