Just as I was preparing my laptop (Dell Latitude D820) to take with me on a trip it acted up. When it boots up and I can see is my desktop graphic. I have no mouse, not start menu, It acts like all of this information is on another monitor. I can not do anything. Any ideas?

Does it do the same thing in safe mode?

What happens when you press CTRL + ALT + DEL? Can you then click file, new task, and then type in explorer.exe (press enter). Does the start menu show?

Nothing, also when I right click using a usb mouse on the desktop and activate properties, the command stops and then nothing.
