TrueBlue 480W powerful enough for x1900XT?

I have read some forums that suggest that the x1900XT is too power-hungry for some PSUs with split 12V rails. I am suspecting that this might have had something to do with my last computer battle.

I mean, all the online calulators are telling me I need a minimum of 375W, which I clearly do, and most sites say that the video card eats less than 120W at load. Am I out of the woods with my Antec TruePower 2 "TrueBlue" 480W PSU? Should I hook my new (RMA'ed) x1900XT to the PSU again and hope for better odds?

yea, i think u should be fine. maybe wait a lil before going overclock crazy next time tho :p Antec makes great PSUs so it should do fine. I couldnt see why a weak PSU could fry a video card anyways...a faulty one, maybe, but not one thats too weak

I think an Antec 480w would be the bare minimum for a x1900xt in a normal rig, and if your going to be running 4 HDD's as well then I would suggest a quality 600w or better regardless of what the calculators say. :)

Nah, overkill... I've got an eVGA 7900GT KO (stock OC'd) with 3 hard drives, 2 Optical drives, and an Athlon 64 3800+. I've got a 480W Thermaltake and it does just fine. I would say the Antec 480 would have similar results with an x1900xt.

It's not overkill in my opinion. The more power the better, and if your gonna spend that much money on hardware, it plain silly to skimp out on the PSU.

Most people who are building high end gaming rigs are going with 600w minimum to insure system stability and additional power for future hardware upgrades.

Any particular brands I should look at for the 600W range? I'm looking for quality on a budget (i.e. no need for modular cabling, etc).
