My computer just keeps on trying to boot. I get the selection screen that says safe mode, etc... But no matter what I select it goes back to the boot screen where is counts my RAM. Do I need a new cmos battery?

Its probably not your CMOS battery

Start by posting your system specs
    Brand/model basic info
    Include your OS
Do you have windows CD or restore disk?

I'm not sure what the brand name or model numbers are. It's an older computer I got from my father. And I can't find any markings on it anywhere.

The operating sytem was upgraded to WIN XP Pro, and yes I do have a WIN CD and a boot disk.
