I think I used to know how to do this,I'm using the same CD-R pack of cd's I used in the past.
Im using Audio City to record,I've then tried saving as a wav & burning on Windows media & CD Burner Xp,I'm running Xp( I think 7) too, however(this is the second DVD player I have installed) the player just does not recognise the discs.
Should i convert the files to another file?
I used to do it sooo easily, what am I doing wrong.?:confused

I would try burning a cd through using Nero Burning Rom as it easier then doing it through Windows Media Player. But the only drawback is that the program is not free.

Ive just bought fresh cd-R....same problem, when I go to my computer and view properties,it shows all new discs as full:( yet they are new?
I have tried that xp cd fix,no luck.
It cant be the DVD device,as Ive got a new one, cant be the cd's as they are new too, could I have picked up a virus that does this to the dvd?

I just did a Microsoft check and it came up with this"CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device"
    Why would it say that?
    It used to work?.
Will do your check you suggest a little later-Thanx!

Possibly you are using a read only drive (ROM) and not a rewritable drive (RW). This laptop (Compaq Presario) has a DVD drive that will read and write CD's but will only read DVDs (DVD-ROM/CD-RW). How Firefox figures into the equation is beyond me...?:confused

Finally,I went through my registry and deleted some things I thought were causing me problems, then my computer crashed.
Took it to the specialist as it would not boot up,he found it was my dvd(the second one) both shot.
    Now I have new one,Im trying to burn a disc..I hope & pray £££££££££

What type of file should I burn a cd with?mp3 is no good, what about a wav?

WAV is the only type of file that you can make a true audio cd from. Any software that allows you to make an audio cd from mp3s is just hiding the fact that it is converting the files to wav along the way.
