Trying to clean up hard drive - looking for app to list big files

I'm trying to clean up my hard drive and I'm looking for an application that will list ALL the files on my computer by size. I don't want to go thru each folder and do an inventory of usage. I'm trying to free up some space on my hard drive and start by deleting those files (of course, not system files) that are the biggest hogs.

Is there any freeware on MajorGeeks that someone would recommend? I have looked thru several pages of programs but there descriptions are so brief, it is hard to tell exactly what each one does.

just do a regular search and sort by size...
or you are looking for something else?

DOS command DIR will probably do it for you. Depending on your OS, you can run it from a C: prompt. Or Start-->Run, then command, or cmd, depending on your OS.

DIR /? will list all the options under the DIR command. Note space after the R.
/O: -S is an option that lists all files, biggest first.
/P will pause after every screenful.
    > prn will direct output to a printer (in the "olde" days--dunno whether this works with USB printers)
    > output.txt might direct the output to a txt file (Not sure about this one)

Google results. Check out #6 link

I'm very rusty on "ye olde" DOS commands, so anyone else feel free to step in. Bazza

I use SizeManager. It comes with FixIt Utilities or SystemSuite from http://www.v-com.com
. Also the Find function in Windows Explorer may be able to do that. You can get a list of all the files on a drive by finding *.* on drive d: (where d can be any drive letter and check the box to search subfolders) and you can sort the list once it's available by clicking on the top column heading for size - click once you'll get ascending, click again and you'll get descending.

Just tried the Start-->Find---> All files and folders, then *.* route, with all subfolders checked.
In W98SE, it still only lists the contents of c:\root folder. :p
It did not include sub-folders, at least for me. Bazza

Sorry that it doesn't seem to work for you, Bigbazza... It does work in Win 2k and XP. A free download from Karenware.com can do it also - called dirprinter. But it isn't as convenient as the Find function because you can't immediately delete the files.

    You can DL a copy of PD5 (PowerDesk 5) from http://www.v-com.com/download/download_free.html .
. The FileFinder feature of PD5 can do all the subfolders and the sort on columns. It's a limited version of the PD Pro and is free for personal use - has a little ad splash at the end (when you exit the program) for PDP5, but PDP6 is the current version. PDP6 is the finest Win Explorer replacement/enhancement available.
