Trying to download Yahoo messenger 10 on windows XP

This is a copy and paste I sent to Yahoo to try and help me with this problem. The last part about not having .Net 1.1 I just decided to toss that in.

I've tried to download Yahoo messenger 10. I had the beta before,
it worked fine for a while. Then, when I went to open it once it came up
with an application error. It says the application failed to initialize
properly (0xc0150002) click ok to terminate. So, I went back to 9. Then
when you released the final version, I thought I'd download it again. It
got to about 95% and done the same thing. I wrote to help a couple of
days ago, they told me to reset my internet explorers settings and to
add yahoo to my trusted sites and to redownload everything. I done that
and it got back to 95% and got the same error again. What else should I
do?

Also, could not having .Net 1.1 on my comp have anything to do with this? When I tried to download it before, it will download, but not install.

 

Tried that and it didn't work. Still got the same application error, only this time, it came up halfway instead of about 90% completion.

 

Bummer. The other day I thought I'd just go ahead and reinstall XP and try to start fresh again, it kept getting stuck at the screen asking you if you wanted to install, repair, or exit. So I don't know. I was able to find a link for messenger 9, and I guess I'll try to keep using it until i can think of something else to try.
