    Please overlook my lack of knowledge on the subject. I added a gig to my computer, "New Volume(X). In my thinking, I was adding it to have more memory, only to find out that this was enabling my computer to work faster. Such as opening different sites at one time,quicker. I was so pleased in the beginning. Now I see I need memory,due to downloading movies,songs,and Bible orientated materials How do I go about the memory problem?What do I need?:confused

    Welcome to Major Geeks.
    Sounds like you mean hard drive space.
    What Operating System are you using?
    Right click on My Computer and click on Properties and see how much RAM is installed.

    Yes sir, your probably right...."hard drive space" is what I need. ...and the wording "probably" is used very loosely with no intention of dis-respect to a person with much more knowledge than myself. I appreciate the way you worded it in your reply to me: "sounds like you need hard drive space." Thanks, limited knowledge of computers. Your assistance is much appreciated.:-D Hopefully the info above will be sufficient to enable you to help me. I look forward to your response. May God bless you and your business.

    If you are talking about hard drive space, double click on "My Computer" found either on your desktop or in your "Start" menu programs. Then right click on Drive C:, select properties, and you will see a graph as well as numbers indicating the size of your hard drive, how much used, how much free.

    You cans select "Disk Cleanup" that will free up some space. Under the tools tab, you should also analyze to see if you need a defrag.

    Depending on these results, you can then go to the control panel, select add/remove programs, (I'm assuming you're OS is XP), and look through all the programs there to see what you can get rid of.

    Common programs you may delete would include anything with quicktime, google, yahoo, aol, or msn in the program name. Defrag again, or wait until you do this to defrag.

    What anti-virus are you using? If one of the free ones like AVG, there is a good possibility you have all or parts of another one on your 'puter and it may show up in the add/remove as well.

    Also, get cCleaner from here;

    And run the cleaner.

    And does any of this help, how big is the HD, how much room before and after?:wave:wave
