Trying to install MS_NDISUIO.....

Computer frozen on my daughter, and she turned it off. Now when i try to boot it gives me 2 options LAUNCH STARTUP REPAIR, and START WINDOWS NORMALY. Both bring me to what looks like the blue sunlit startup screen, with a black box that eventually apears, reading, "X:\windows\system32>netcfh -e -c p -i MS_NDISUIO
Trying to install MS_NDISUIO"

I've also tried the REPAIR MY COMPUTER option, SAFE MODE (w/ and w/o networking), and the LAST SUCCESSFUL BOOT option. All with the same results. Though the REPAIR eventually gave me the Blue screen of death.

Running windows 7, with Norton, on a ~3 year old HP

According to Microsoft, you must put the PC in a "clean boot" state. Here's the link with more info.

Looks like that CLEAN BOOT, requires me to be at the desk top, and run MSCONFIG, but I can't get to either of those

Also those were steps for vista. Would the same apply to windows 7?

 

Sorry about that. That thread is for Windows XP. I'll see what I can get from Microsoft or HP.

 

So the second try on the REPAIR MY COMPUTER option got me to a screne with multiple options.

I tried SYSTEM RESTORE, from a restore point that wad 3 weeks ago, but only ended up with an error. I used the back button and chose the STARTUP REPAIR OPTION, this had a note that read "repairing disk errors, this may take over an hour to complete"

Thats the latest, ill update in a few hours.
