Ok guys, newbie networking geek here.
Im trying to get my wifi (802.11b) laptop running xp to see my wifi (802.11g) desktop running 98. Both can access the internet via the wireless router so i know the hardware is running ok, and the laptop can see the folders etc another separate computer running xp.
So how do i set up a network between the two.

Your post is a little confusing, especially about seeing folders. What folders are you talking about? Can you ping the laptop from the desktop and vice versa? If so, did you go through the XP set up a network wizard? I dont know why but if you do not, sharing is next to impossible. That wizard does some weird registry changes. Next, is the firewall turned on or off, or for that matter is there any firewall on either of the computers. I hope so being on Broadband!! Last, make sure you have at least one folder shared per computer so sharing acually has something to see. Try these things and get back to us.

Make sure the computers have the same workgroup name. If running a firewall, make sure your local 192. network is in a trusted zone.
