Trying to Organize Fonts

Does anyone know of an efficient method and/or FREE application for organizing fonts?

The design computer here at the sign shop has, over the course of 4-5 years and a handfull of employess compiled over 5-6000 fonts on this thing, and it's getting quite annoying because I now use "Free & Easy Font Viewer" when searching for a font for a design, and I frequently see very similar fonts, but they aren't categorized/organized or whatever you want to call it...and I don't have the time or patience to sit and go through thousands of fonts in order to shrink up the collection a bit.

So I was just hoping someone might know something that would be helpfull!!

Hi Roger

I used this free one on XP and now using this in Vista to manage the 20k of fonts I Have collected over the years, fontaholic http://www.ampsoft.net/utilities/FontViewer.php as it handles T1 and TT fonts, whereas some other freebies dont.

I've never tried it but:

... you might want to invest in font-management software, such as Adobe Type Manager, which can remove and re-install fonts in groups at the click of a button
