I tried the 2.4 and was unhappy with it so I wanted to go back to the 1.6, so I came here to Major Geeks and got a Spybot 1.6.2 download, after the download when I tried to install it this is what it said twice
    xError Sending Request.
A redirect request will change a non-secure to a secure connection.

I have no problems downloading anything else or deleting or altering any other program, just this Spybot sd1.6.2

    I would appreciate any help.

    Thanks

If you already had a later version of Spybot S&D installed on your PC, parts of it may still reside in your registry. You will probably need an Uninstall program like "Revo Uninstaller" to purge your registry of those remaining entries. Or you can do that manually, if you're a registry Pro. rolleyes

The true success of using Spybot S&D 1.6.? is in the Installation/Setup.
I spent a good bit of time and effort coming up with a full page of Setup instructions for that version.

Too many folks think that all they have to do is install the program on their PC, and that's it!

"Au Contraire Mon Fraire". Just maintaining the program on a weekly basis is a three step manual process.
    1. Get the updates, that are posted every Wednesday.
    2. Perform the Immunization
    3. Run the Scanner and delete whatever it finds.

I'd be glad to share the text of those instructions with anyone who really wants them. (they are too much to post here)

    Cheers mates!

Wow, I didn't know that ancient program was still around. It, and Ad-Aware, were the hot ticket for malware protection back in, like, 2001. I quit using it when TeaTimer was added.

That's one critical part of my instructions, to set up Spybot S&D.....DO NOT INSTALL the Teatimer! Without that piece of crap, Spybot is a pretty good program.

I still use Spybot S&D today, even on Windows 10, which I've been testing now, for several months.
Spybot S&D is the only program I've got, that will let me see all the BHO's that are attached to my browsers, and let me Delete the ones I don't want.

From your screen name, I thought maybe you were from Iowa, like me. Guess not.

I gave up on Ad-aware years ago, when they went off the grid for six months or so, with no updates and NO response to emails. They aren't even in the game anymore, as far as I'm concerned.

    Nice hearing from you.

I liked the resident Tea Timer that 2.4 version does not have included.

Thank you all for your help. I did find that the program is detecting a folder for SpybotSd but I am unable to locate it anywhere. So I am assuming that is where my problem is.
