trying to run ad-aware

whenever i try to run ad-aware , the spyware which has got on to my computer just shuts ad-aware down before it can scan properly. Anybody got any ideas this spyware (if it is spyware- not sure pretty much a novice myself), the search engine always defaults to magicsearch.com, even if i change the internet options on tools. I run explorer XP. Any help would be appreciated.

Spyware Problem

Someone on the forums has a problem with spyware, and cannot make a post, among other things. I will post for him:

when i try to run ad-aware , the spyware on my computer just closes the program before it can scan properly. The spyware defaults to magicsearch.com as my search engine , even if i change my internet options in tools. the spyware alI run windows XP , if anyone can help it would be appreciated, I'm a beginner and don't know much , except never loan your computer to a friend who knows less that you.

Try safe mode,, run ad-aware reboot. Worth a try.
