I have two computers on a network. One connects by USB to my HP printer which is ethernet enabled. My second computer's USB ports are broken and can't be fixed. I am using a wireless configuration wizard to connect it to the printer. The wizard goes well until screen where I have to plug in flash drive to save settings. I didn't know I had to do that, and obviously I can't. There is no way to get past the screen. I wish someone could help me. Thanks in advance.

Please post what version of Windows you are running on the PC that is giving you problems. It's likely that - using the "add printer" option - you can manually configure the printer port/connection using the IP address the router assigned to the printer.

If the printer is ethernet not wifi capable, just hook it up to a ethernet port on your router or switch. That way, it is available 24/7, not just when you turn on the other computer.

I agree with the both of the above. Make sure you disconnect the printer from any computer and use strictly Ethernet (preferred) or wireless.

If using Windows 7, setting up network printer is easy. XP is a bit more manually intensive, but should work.

Note the drivers for the printer need to be installed on each machine. Again, Windows 7 makes that easy as it already knows how to communicate with many print devices.

Isn't Homegroup a godsend Digerati. Of course, a person has to set it up first to allow various items to be shared, and their firewall has to also behave itself, but it is the next best thing to Philly Cheesesteaks.

I don't use Homegroup much because I don't share between my computer - I only backup to a single networked PC.

I use it, when going to all users libraries on the desktop that we have our printer hooked up to. Otherwise, do it the old school way, when I want to go to my personal directory.
