Trying to use SONY Bravia as dual monitor

I am trying to use my tv as a dual monitor for watching movies.

I am running a VGA cable from my laptop to the tv through the PC ports. When I try to change the inputs on the tv the 'PC' option does not highlight and I am unable to select that option.

I have tried changing the resoultion on the laptop to the lowest setting but nothing changed.

Any advice would be great. Thanks

 

First I would check the owners' manual for the TV and see if any settings on it need to be enabled for using the VGA input.

Next, go into the BIOS setup of your PC (usually "F2" or "DEL") at startup. Tab through the BIOS pages until you get to video options; some PCs require you to enable the VGA output in the BIOS.

Depending on the TV set you should be able to set the resolution to a higher level. Once you get the PC showing on the TV, try out the available resolution options until you find one that fits the screen ratio and you're comfortable with.
