turn computer off button gone???

Hi i dont have the turn computer off button on the start menu anymore. was wondering how to get it back? i am running windows xp sp2 home edition. i didnt have run and task manager but was able to resolve that but when in task manager i cant shutdown either only log off thanks for the help.

Expand User Configuration>Administrative Templates>Start Menu and Taskbar

Make sure "Remove and prevent access to the Shut Down command" is not set to Enabled - set it to Not Configured if it is.

Ack, try this instead:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Start > Run > regedit

In the Registry Editor window Navigate in the left hand window by clicking on:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > Microsoft > Windows > Current Version > Policies > Explorer

In the right hand window look for under the Name column NoClose
It's type will be REG_DWORD and have a value of 1. Right click and select delete.

Warning: If it says anything after the NoClose (e.g. DragDropBands) do NOT delete.

Also be aware this is the real nuts and bolts of your PC. If you do not feel confident tweaking the registry, don't attempt this.

it has value of 0 but should i go ahead and remove anyway?

perfect wish i new more about editing registry there is somany easy fixes by tweaking it thank you lev that fixed it
