Turning an older PC into a router.

I know it can be done but how hard is it? Any one have links to a nice guide? Im thinking DD-WRT x86 as im used to DD-WRT on my WRT54G.

Long story short I need a router with power as our internet connection is feeding a minimum of 6PCs. Our current router is routinely clogged with uncapped p2p clients (roomates say there not running p2p stuff and play dumb when the internet gets insanely slow). I need something that can handle a lot of active Ip connections going on at once and has good QoS settings. Im thinking of building the PC into a VCR so I can have a VCR router (thanks Rikky for the idea) if that happens I will post tons of pics .

You know it makes senseI was thinking,if you took the outer casing of a PSU off you may able to squeeze it into a DVD player.

 

There is also ClarkConnect, which runs on Fedora. I have used it, and like it, due to more robust of a product. It can run on a 533mhz system for the older editions, but min. with the most current should be no less then a 1.5 or 2ghz with sufficient memory and drive space.
