turning off anti-virus and other programs

How do you turn off all programs before fix-it utilities 10 professional is used?

 

Hi huck, it dependds on what security your using...

Your AntiVirus should have an icon in the bottom right of your screen that you can right click on and it will be de-activated. The same goes for any 3rd party Firewall you are using BUT If you are using windows firewall, you will not need to turn that off.

Also, open your task manager (ctrl + Alt + Del) and see what app's are running and close them from there.

Note: I would strongly advise you to pull the plug on your modem if you are going to switch your AV off, so nothing can connect to the web!!!


Afterthought: you could try booting into safemode and see if the program will run from there.
