I have tried to set up my Computer to record like a tivo, but the card did not work at all. Any suggestions for a good card that works?

Since you didn't post your system specs or what version of Windows you're running, I'll start with general advice:

    * If the card is still installed, go to the card mfr's web site, download the latest drivers for your version of Windows, install them, reboot and see if it fixes the problems. If not...

    * Research user reviews on Newegg and Amazon. This will give you an idea on what cards work best with your version of Windows. There are still some older cards on the market that don't work well with Win 7 or other 64-bit OS; user review feedback will help you spot this.

    * Be sure your system specs (CPU, RAM, etc.) exceed the mfr. minimums. A few years ago I bought a USB TV tuner that matched the minimum (and only the minimum) CPU speed stated by the card mfr. The video quality was choppy, even after installing the latest drivers.

If you also have a notebook with sufficient specs, the USB card is a nice option. During Hurricane Ike, I was able to watch local news updates on my notebook even after the power went out.

I ordered it last week and got another $20 bucks off -($49) cheapest any where, well between there and Microcenter.
    Compatible software:
Windows Media Center: Vista WMC (32/64-bit) / Windows 7 (32/64-bit)

    - SageTV - DVR for Windows/Linux/Mac
    - MediaPortal - DVR for Windows

Yea...it was a cheap card 40 bucks I think. The only info I found was that the only way people got it to work was by re-programming it. I'm not that savy. THe soft ware was crap.

I was just wondering, for an older XP machine, if anyone has found a card you plug in (PCI), install supplied drivers, connect your cable box and record to your HD.

    Thanks,
