tv has black square on it

I played netflix movie to my tv via my hdmi cord for a few hours today

now I have unplugged the cord and i have a big black square on my tv
the square goes away when I change volume, but then it comes back....
what did I do and how do i get rid of the black square?

 

Sorry I laughed out loud when I read this:-D Its most likely something to do with your TV's on screen display or OSD that isn't being displayed properly.You can confirm this by disabling your OSD in your TV's options.

Most likely nothing is broken,the good news is it goes away so there isn't anything wrong with the panel.I don't know how it could have become enabled unless you were playing around with your TV's options while your computer was connected. ATM I also can't think of anything that would cause something to be permanently on screen without pressing the remote,the mute OSD maybe?Make sure none of your remote control buttons are stuck down or any on the TV are stuck in.

So first I'd completely turn off the TV with the power button on the front and disconnect from the mains to see if it clears up,then look through your TV's options for a factory settings or default option and enable it.

Note:Any custom options you've applied in the past will reset such as picture quality.

when I was watching the netflix,I tried desperatly to get the closed captioning to work!

dude, I was so freakin out cause I was so happy earlier that I could watch netflix and walk on my treadmill and so I thought God was spiting me..
or something like that

 

That's what I thought off first but dismissed due to to the way closed captioning works over here,its related to the channel not the TV as whole so just turning the channel gets rid of it.

I was so paranoid because the CC had a black box filling 90% of the screen, but it did go away whenever i increased volume, it was on CClevel 3 or somethin, which is why it was so freakin big
damn that made me so freakin paranoid, I thought I busted the tv
