Here are a few links that cover standard def. TV:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/480p

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Display_resolution

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=tv+resolution+NTSC&go=Go

(Note: NTSC is the old/analog standard for North America, ATSC is the new/digital standard for North America. PAL - which is used across the rest of the World - has different specs. This is why a DVD purchased in the USA usually won't play on a DVD player in England or vice versa.)

    Hope this helps. :)

Thank you for geting back to me and I whent to all the links you told me to.

And I am a lot more up to speed then I was. But I do want to ask if I have this right?

1080i will have a frame rate of 60 fps
and 1080p will have a frame rate of 30 fps

    am I right?

Not necessarily. I went to this link and looked it up:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1080p

The fps can vary. If content providers wanted to confuse novices, inform intermediate users and really p:***s off people who just dropped 3K on a top-of-the-line TV, they would include the frame content in a full description such as 1080p24 (the last 2 numbers are the fps).

Surprisingly, much 1080p content (esp. Blu-Ray discs) is 1080p24 (24 fps). It appears 60 fps creates a bandwidth (data transfer) issue for both over-the-air and downloaded HD content.
