TV output problem

I just bought a GeForce 9400 GT Graphics card and i'm trying to output the PC signal to the TV.

My TV it's a Sony Trinitron manufactured in 1993, so it's not wide screen, flat screen or HD.

My PC has Windos XP SP3.

I'm using the S-Video output with a composite converter (it came with the card).

The only thing I can see on the TV is static, even during the boot, but every time I click on the Nvidia icon or change the resolution, I can see the PC signal briefly flashing on the TV (one or two seconds).

The PC detects the TV, in fact, I've tried the Dualview, Clone (this is the one that interest me) and Horizontal Span settings. I've also tried different resolutions and refresh rates.

I've tried 3 or 4 different drivers (all from Nvidia), everyone with the same results.

I've used 2 different RCA cables and I've connected them directly to the TV and to a DVD player as well, again... the same results. So I don't think that the cables or TV are the problem.

    So.... Any suggestions?

I hope someone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

    Thanks.

Do you hasve the computer connected to a monitor as well as the TV?

Sorry if this one sound obvious, but is the TV in extension mode?

I have had a similar problem in the past that was related to a portable TV that would not accept input, perhaps your problem is that the TV just does not support input in the way you want it to.

Just to make sure, try using the windows screen configuration box (right click on the desktop, properties, far right tab) to extend the windows desktop onto the TV and set the screen resolution for the TV to 800 x 600 at 60Hz and see if that works.

Also, try the computer connected to the TV only. Shut the PC down, unplug the monitor and restart.

Yes, the option to extend the desktop is activated, and both, the TV and the monitor have the same settings (800x600, 16 bit color, 60Hz).

I turned on the PC with only the TV connected to it, that way, at least I could see the boot sequence and the Windows logo, but the signal was lost when windows started (when the welcome screen was supposed to appear).

This makes it sound like Windows does not like the TV. I'm afraid that I'm out of ideas at this stage...

    Anyone else?
