I've got a all-in-wonder x800 xt and i'm trying to view just basic cable on my computer. I have coax cable that is connected directly to the splitter and then right into the card without going through a tv or vcr.

i can see a picture, but its pretty much just scrambled. when i try to acquire channels with the wizard it says 0 channels acquired. All i can hear is static also, but i do get the video but it unwatchable.

    thanks.

How is your tv hooked up? Some companies scramble the cable and you have to plug into a box and then plug the box into a tv. If this is the case you'd need such a box for the computer as well.

no, its just hooked up the same way as all the TVs in my house. In total, we've got 4 TVs, plus the line going to the computer. It comes in as one line, enters the splitter and then connects to each tv by itself.

    having similar problems myself.

without more details from you i am just guessing a bit here but

the signal from your splitter could be too weak because it will only support a certain amount of traffic and you said you have splitters to your other tv's in the house.

I am on telewest and coco is right you cant just take it from a splitter if it is a scrambled signal! you need it decoded so it would need to come from the video out port on your box or through another box to decode the signal else or you will get is fuzz.

give more details on your connection and service provider.

As i said i am on telewset digital and still cant sort my own out but maybe i can point you in the right direction if you clarify.

does the other end of the splitter work ok?
if you can get a picture on your tv from the same spliter you man want
to switch outputs on the spliter (the splitter may be bad)
does the tv-tuner on the AIW x800xt have a cable/air option, try switching that, if it does.

    good luck.

    Thanks for all your replies.
I have tested the cable on a regular tv, and I get a picture fine, just not when i plug it into the card. the x800 does have the option to switch the connection to cable, which i have it at. For all the other options, the picture is just black with no scrambled picture.

I live in Manitoba, Canada and am with Shaw Cable. All the other TVs are hooked up exactly the same way the computer is, straight from the splitter. I am just using the standard coaxial cable with gold connectors that all the other TVs are using as well.
