TV Tuner Troubles

Hi guys,

Please help, I'm desperate!

I recently had a system crash (was writing with Nero 6 and there was a power-failure) and had to reinstall Windows XP Pro, all drivers and software. The O/S, software and hardware are all still the same, and everything was working fine before, but now I can't install the TV Tuner Card!

At startup Windows detects the "new hardware" and I proceed to attempt the software and driver installation. Then the @#$% computer says that it doesn't detect the tuner! I have tried to download newer drivers etc. but that doesn't help, and yeah, the tuner is connected. How to install this "unknown device"?!

have you tried moving the tuner card down/up a slot? Another thing that might work (and i can't tell if you used it or not) is by extracting the drivers to a folder, then using the hardware setup wizard to install the drivers.

 

Can you try the card in another computer? The power failure may have damaged the card itself.

 

The card works in a friend's computer. Moving it to another slot doesn't seem to help. Do you think it will help to uninstall all software but the O/S and then try again, or will it be a waste of time? I'm willing to try just about anything.
