Have been infected for the past week with a hijacker called TV Media, seemingly a variant of the CoolWebSearch hijacker. It's profile is that once I visited a site it would not let me visit it again but would redirect me to flashlightsearch.com, a lycos search engine, or simpli.com. It would not allow me to access ANY spyware repair sites, download anything, etc. I finally found someone's personal web page with directions on how to remove the darn thing. Once I did I could at least access this site and get some further advice by reading the boards. I have reviewed Major Attitude's "how-to" and have referenced the BHO list. Although I am not being redirected to flashlightsearch.com anymore I am now getting "server not found" pages no matter what I do. I have not been able to identify the below remaining URL Search Hook as anything malicious from any of the lists. I am hesitant to delete it until I know what it is. Then, how the heck do I repair/reinstall my default URL search hook - or do I?

Would SKS please take a look at my HijackThis log and tell me if I've missed anything? All virus, internet, firewall, spyblocker, etc. software is up-to-date as of this morning and none identify it. I am a user, not a geek or techhead so please be kind! This is the first time my system has been so infected despite years on the internet.

BTW, CWS.Smartkiller did not detect this. Norton Internet Security did not identify it. Spyblocker did not identify a URLSearchHook {707e6r76-9ffb-4920-a976-ea1011271bc25} which did appear on TonyK's BHO list.

If others are so infected, the folder is called TV media, in the Programs File, and contains Tvm.exe, TvmCove.dll, TvmBho.dll, a CoolWeb file, and a few others. It also lays something in the RegKeys.

I thank you in advance for any assistance! Best regards. Nancy.

Have you tried going to Internet Tools, Options, Programs tab and reset web settings? That might fix you up. Please install SpywareBlaster when finished to protect you from most known spyware, ActiveX programs, etc. Your log file looks clean after a quick glance.

Thanks Major Attitude, but yes, I have performed a "reset web settings." I do have Spywear Blaster, it just wasn't pinned to my start menu (until now). I rescan everything (deep scans), with all of the bells and whistles (Norton, SpywearBlaster, Adaware, etc.) and am still getting "page not found" with almost every internet search I perform, including linked pages to or from this site, majorgeeks.com. I reboot, I rescan. Ad nauseum.

I've cleaned my temporary internet files. I've cleaned cookies. I've cleaned history. I've defragged. Everything says I'm running like a top - but I'm not when it comes to typing in addresses into the address bar and trying to connect to a site.

I am not searching odd sites. Very big, popular sites that I know are up and running (I use my old dial up computer to check). I don't want to sound like I'm panicking. I've done this sort of thing too many times to panic. I'm more discouraged than anything else. Sick of it in fact.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance. Nancy.
