Tweaking.com Windows Repair Will Not Open To Install

I am attempting to use the windows repair on a Vista Box. The program downloads but when clicked it will not run and install. momentary hourglass that is it. I tried to "run as administrator" same. This machine could really use some repair.. any Ideas. Any way to run from a usb, or CD? I tried to install in safe mode. same result.

More important is the video tutorial from one of MG's Owners which is just below the download link. Maybe watch that first.

 

I have not tried various conditions such as safe boot yet with this version but I was wondering, this box would not upgrade the service packs via update or stand alone. It is odd looking, no error messages, just a short hour glass then nothing, nothing shows up in the task manager either. I wonder if tweak needs more than the original Vista to run. ie service pack 2 or such. I will find a USB, and let you all know. The computer works, I am using it to post this reply. Thanks DC

 

You do need Vista Service Pack 2 so before using the Tweaking program, you could first try the Windows Update Troubleshooter first:

You must scroll down to 'Vista'.

When you do run Tweaking from a portable USB drive, run it in Windows Safe Mode - watch the tutorial.

 

I think I am out of luck, the fix is off line, routed to a list, which when are accessed it downloads a cab file which is over my skill set.

I actually have tried that and it tries but then something fatal happens and it reverts back to SP1. I was hoping some of these tweaking like programs might find the problem and fix it. Probably is time to "Move On"

Just to be clear.
Did you try running the Tweaking program, according to the Tutorial, having first booted your system into Safe Mode with Networking?
If the windows update troubleshooter for Vista didn't run or work, then running tweaking, from the portable USB file, is the best way.
Your alternative is to save any data you can to an external USB drive or DVDs, and then do a factory reset of Vista.
