    Hi!

I bought an HP Simple Save external drive. When I attached it, Windows XP created two hard drive letters. Furthermore, the drive comes w/ pre-installed back-up software that I do not want to use; I want to use Back Up Pro.

What's going on? Why two letters? Can I delete the software?

    Thank you.

    Greetings, Dr.T....

I would guess that the multiple drives are from some kind of launching software - for instance, when I plug in my 8 gb Cruzer flash drive, 2 drives are created in Windows Explorer: one has the Launchpad (about 6 mb), the other is the Removable Disk (about 8 gb)...

You can probably safely delete the included software, although I'd recommend thoroughly exploring it first: there may be other tools included that might prove valuable...

Keep us posted, and welcome to MG! :major

    Hi and welcome, Dr.T.,

I'd format the external and uninstall any software related to it, there are several threads here about problems occurring with this type of software.
