Two factor authentication can be used with a phone call or text message that sends a code OR a secret question to for which the answer is only known to the user. For the secret question, one could make up a nonsense answer that no one could possibly guess.

    Is either method more secure?

I would say 2-factor authentication where you use an authenticator app you enter the code shown onscreen into the security notification box is the securest way with receiving a text or call next. The problem with a nonsense answer is that there’s a risk of forgetting it.
Even if someone has your log in details they couldn’t access the account as they don’t have your phone to receive the code.
