Two Firefox.exe *32 Processes - Normal?

This may or may not be malware.
I have Windows 7, use firefox almost exclusively, and have latest version.

Windows Task manager, on the processes tab, shows "firefox.exe *32" TWO times. I don't remember that this was normal.

When I click on "End task" to close firefox, I get a popup saying firefox is no longer working, and asks if I should close it. It never used to do that. If I close firefox normally, I don't get the popup, but one of the two processes remains for about a minute.

If this IS normal, just say so. If it is not, please try to help me understand how it got there. My PC, online, runs very slowly. I fear some hacker is launching their own kind of firefox.exe process for its own use.

I hope you're going to tell me this is normal. I'd like to know why, if possible, though.
    THANKS!
    Holly B.

I also have multiple processes of Fx in Task Manager.
    I don't consider it malware.
But if the OP thinks that it is malware, they will still have to carry out all the Read & Run Me first steps which, in earlier threads, they have resolutely refused to do.

No it's not malware.I can confirm it.

There is or should be an option to make it a single process.

On cyberfox i can make it a single process instead of it as a double process which is in most cases not needed as a double process.

    Go to

    Tool's/Options/General

In general there should be an option at the very top of page.

It should say Enable Multi-Process Firefox or Cyberfox

FYI this is some thing new from the last few updates on firefox they did.

There is no such option in any section of Tools > Options in the latest Firefox release 54.0

That may be an option in Cyberfox but it is not in Firefox.

Well Cyberfox is more of a modded fox web browser. But still uses some of it's features

Let me look more into this in about:config

There should be an option to switch it to a single process on firefox.

I have not use firefox since 18 version so it's been a while.

In firefox all you need to do disable the multi process is.

    In address bar type about:config

Say yes i will be care full.

Than in the search option bar type this below.

    browser.tabs.remote.autostart

Make sure they are both false and than restart your firefox and you should have only one process.
