Two hard drives to one

    i want to combine two seperate hard drive to make one hard drive, can and how to do this?

    What you would have to do is "Raid" the HDD. In essence, Raid (redundant array of independent disks) allows you to use more then one HDD at the same time. The Raid you are talking about is RAID 0, which combines 2 HDD into one. Others include Raid 1 (mirror image) and RAID0+1, and many others up 2 RAID 7 (i think). Your Mobo will need to have build in raid capability, or you will need to buy a Raid Controller card. Just google raid and you will find more then enough info on how to set up a RAID.     Which OS you have?

    IF Win2k, Win2003 or XP Pro ( not work for XP Home or any of the 9x OS's ) then you can convert your HDs to dynamic disks ( software RAID in essence ) you get a type of Raid0 Stripe array, but without the advantages of hardware Raids speed.

    WARNING.. once changed to dynamic disks you cannot convert back to Basic Storage without deleting the partitions and re-formatting.

    Halo, can you tell me how I can tell if my harddrive is dynamic or Basic storage?.

    No probs.. easy way is if you are using 2k, XP or above you can just enter Disk Managment and under the heading TYPE it will say Basic or Dynamic

    to enter Disk Managment easy way is right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Managment

    Another WARNING: , if you lose either drive, ALL the data is gone. There is no fault tolerance in Stripped sets.
