    Help please.
On my small laptop, HP Pavilion Notebook dm1, when the...…. "...….. key is pressed it prints……@.......
Then vice versa when the.... @...….... key is pressed it prints the...…".....
The lower case actions are not affected....ie ….2...... is...... 2......and...... '...... is..... '

    Hope that makes sense!

It could be a failing keyboard, or just some cookie crumbs getting in the way. With the power off, turn the notebook upside down and gently tap the edge of the notebook against a table to knock them loose. Blast from a can of compressed dusting gas might help.

You can also plug in an external keyboard and see if it does the same thing. If it does, it is not the notebook keyboard.

It could also be in US keyboard mode- check that it is in UK KEYBOARD MODE

Tried all the suggestions to no avail!...compressed air, crumbs, UK keyboard settings, spare USB keyboard (same errors).
Just changing the HDD for an SSD and have cloned.....so will change and take the error through.
Not a real problem just an occasional nuisance!
    Thanks again:)

Changing drives has nothing to do with this.

The fact you get the same errors with a spare keyboard means there is nothing wrong with your notebook keyboard. That is, it is not a hardware problem.

Interestingly, here is the exact same problem. The problem finding a solution seems to be that there does not appear to be one solution that worked for everyone. Hopefully something in there will work for you.

    Keep us posted.

HALF SOLVED. I have tried the 'English (US)...English (UK) change a few times.....for some reason it has now actually worked.
It was set to US even though I had set it to UK....after rebooting it is again set to US.....need to resolve the default setting!

Tried the two Ten Forum methods and the Powershell method has worked....the Settings method didn't as it didn't force the default.
    Thanks for your help.
