Two problems w/ Win7 (64)

1. After RE-LOADING Win7 I get message errors when Windows finishes loading.
Can't open AsIO.sys!! (2). When I cancel the mesages every "seems" to be cool.

What's goin on?

2. NOW i'm getting a desktop icon, and program called HomeGroup.

How do I get rid of the icon/program? - I'll never use it.

 

Do you have an Asus motherboard? The file AsIO.sys is related to the program "Asus Probe" or "..ProbeII" and it's a system monitoring tool for voltages, temps, etc. (it's possibly a different Asus program like their "AIManager" for example). If you had it installed at one time, or currently have it installed, that could be the cause of the problem. Check your startup list (run msconfig and click the "Startup" tab) and see if Probe or another Asus program is listed. If so, uncheck the box, click OK, and reboot. If you don't see a corresponding msconfig entry, go to your registry and check the startup keys there (run regedit and go to "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" and also check "HKLMSoftware\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run") and right click and delete the offending Asus or AsIO.sys entry. If none of this helps, or if you don't have an Asus motherboard, let us know and we'll move on to something else. As to the "Home Group" icon, I have no idea what that's all about, but I'll do some quick research and let you know if I discover something.
