Hi! Two USB floppy drives on two laptops stopped working today. On one, a Win10/64 laptop, the drive doesn't appear in This PC. The other, a WinXP laptop, doesn't recognize the device when I plug it in. Both recognize other USB drives. I've been using floppies to hold my programs. Now, I have to use a flash drive. I'm at my mother's house and have been transferring the software to a flash drive via a Win98SE computer. What can cause the problem? How do I fix it?

I'm unable to reproduce your issue. Three different brands of USB external floppy drives and all appear in XP and Windows 7 computers with no problem. One is TEAC, another Mitsumi and the last says Photo Floppy on the bottom and is identified by the computers as simply USB FDD.

    I haven't a clue.
Take your chances and buy another drive.

I have money in the bank but only so much. If possible, I want what I have to work.

One of the drives works now. :)
