I already had a Windows XP installed on my C: drive on my laptop and I accidentally installed another one instead of repairing the originial; so now I have two Windows XPs on my C: drive and I am trying to get rid of the newer one but I can't seem to figure this out, can anyone assist me in this situation? Thank you in advance

If you have your Windows XP cd, insert it into the drive, reboot, and then delete the partition you do not want.

the problem is that both partitions are named the same and I'm afraid I will delete the wrong one, unfortunatly I don't have enough money to buy an external hard drive to back up my data, is there a way to rename the partitions so I can tell which is which?

ok this is very weird, i go to disk management and i only see my C: drive, when I put in the windows CD to delete a partition I only see my C: drive, but whenever my computer boots it asks me which Windows XP to boot

Go to start / run / msconfig ....go to boot.ini ....should see the three references to xp as the boot installation ...delete two.

Copy and paste the entries so that we can try to figure out which ones to delete.
