two xp's on same machine,how to delete one?

    i have two xp's os on same machine,how to delete one? I was having some problems with the original xp,so, I had plenty of space to add a new one,now that I have this clean install how can I salvage at least some of my files from there and just do away with that xp ? Please tell me It can be done...I'm not a rocket scientist so please keep it simple..thanx magickman:confused
