    Hi there Guys,

I have a problem with my on board audio. Well I have no sound. I have an ASUS P5PL2-E series motherboard.
Before I formatted the C: drive I had sound but when I put the motherboard driver cd in it puts all the other drivers on.

It says "Microsoft Uaa function driver high definition audio - adi 1986 " with an (!) at the front of it.

When I go to update driver with the motherboard disc it is still the same. It comes up with " This device cannot start Code 10".

Is there anyone out there that can help me as it is driving me crazy.

I have enabled all audio in bios. I have noo mixer, midi or volume controls.

    Regards,

    Arty

Visit this link http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5PL2-E and download the chipset drivers and the audio drivers for your version of Windows. You didn't say which version of Windows you have, so here's a link to the Intel UAA driver for Windows XP. If you have Vista, post here and I'll give you another link if you can't find it at Intel.
    Intel UAA WinXP http://downloadcenter.intel.com/det...d=954&dwnldid=11597&agr=y&lang=eng&prdmap=954
The UAA driver causes people problems all over the place, so don't feel bad. ;) OK- so you've downloaded your chipset software, the audio software, and the UAA software. Install the chipset first. Reboot and install the UAA. Then install the audio driver.
Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

    Hi there, dlb,

    Thanks for your quick response.
Sorry I forgot to say I have Windows XP pro service pack 2.

When I put the original chipset disc, then I to a search to find new devices it detects that there is a sound card on board (Microsoft Uaa Function driver High definition driver adi 1986). But on the cd it says it is a soundmax adi 1986. I load that up but it still says code 10. cannot start.

Sorry but I'm not a pro. with the chipset version mine says:

    Driver Provider : Intel
    Driver Date: 9/30/2005
    Driver Version: 7.2.2.1002
Digital Signer: Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher

I hope thats helps you help me.....

    :D

This is for the ADI1986 UAA for Windows XP. It's from HP/Compaq but you shouldn't have any problems with it. If the page opens in French (and it does sometimes) don't worry, the driver itself is in English. Just click on the "telecharger" button to download it.

Here's another link to another UAA driver that supports ADI 1986 UAA: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...AA-Bus-Driver-for-High-Definition-Audio.shtml

It's been over a week, and I don't know if my first post helped at all.... regardless, I posted again ;)

    Hi there dlb,

Thanks for getting back to me, but unfortuantly I have still got the same problem.

I will try your downloads and I'll get back and tell you if it is working.

    Thanks again.
